On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Jobi Martinez from the South Asian Student Association at Texas Tech University talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about an upcoming Spring festival.

The organization will be hosting the Holi Festival of Colors this weekend at Texas Tech. The festival, in which participants throw colored powder at each other, originated in India and celebrates the arrival of Spring. Martinez said, while the festival may be an Indian celebration, it is also a celebration of diversity and encourages peoples from all backgrounds to attend and join the fun.

The festival kicks off Saturday, March 30th, at 5 PM on the Texas Tech Rec Fields. Admission is free to the community, although participants with breathing problems are advised to bring a mask or bandana to keep the powder from affecting their breathing.
