A Texas Tech softball player has been named to a lofty watch list.

Senior Emily Bledsoe has been named to the USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List Wednesday.

The watch list additions were named in an announcement by the American Softball Association. Bledsoe and 49 other players across the nation are on the list, which includes 10 others from the Big 12 Conference.

Bledsoe, a native of Fulshear, Texas, hit a career-high .383 as a junior, and delivered three home runs and 33 RBI, in addition to 56 runs.

The watch list will be narrowed to 25 finalists on April 11th, and then cut to 10 players on May 9th. The winner will be announced before the start of the Women’s College World Series on May 29th.

The Red Raider softball team will begin this season against San Diego at the Arizona State Kajikawa Classic in Tempe at 4 p.m. February 9th.
