Texas Tech will host the first round of the NCAA Soccer Championships this weekend.

Texas Tech will host North Texas on Saturday at the John Walker Soccer Complex on Saturday. First kick is at 7 p.m.

This is Tech’s first-ever NCAA Tournament Match, and comes after advancing to the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships for the first time in school history last week.

The Red Raiders defeated Kansas in the quarterfinals of the tournament in a 2-0 shutout, before falling to eventual Big 12 Champion Baylor.

Tech last played North Texas in 2010, defeating them 1-0 in Lubbock, and the overall series between the schools is tied 4-4.

Four Red Raider student-athletes made the postseason All-Big 12 First team, which is a school record.

Freshman Janine Beckie has also been named conference Rookie of the Year, leading all Big 12 freshmen in scoring with 12 goals this season.
