Texas Tech’s soccer team has been picked as second in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll.

Tech garnered two first place votes from the league coaches and was placed second, only ranking below West Virginia.

The team also returns eight starters, including Preseason All-Big 12 selections Janine Beckie and Jaelene Hinkle.

Hinkle was unanimously chosen as a preseason All-Big 12 defender on Thursday, and Beckie was chosen as an All-Big 12 forward.

The Red Raiders will open their 2013 season on August 23rd at New Mexico, and the home opener will take place August 25th against Colorado State.
