Texas Tech soccer has advanced to the second round of the NCAA postseason.

A standing-room only crowd saw the Red Raiders shut out North Texas 2-0 in Tech’s first NCAA postseason match in school history.

Tech senior Dawn Ward scored two second half goals in her final match at the John Walker Soccer Complex on Saturday night.

“We knew we were up against a challenge and I was excited for our girls to come to play,” said Tech head coach Tom Stone.

Friday’s game at Tech netted a season-high crowd of 1,738, and Tech improved to 9-1 for the season.

The Red Raiders will face Florida State at 7 p.m. Friday in Tallahassee. Florida State advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women’s College Cup after beating Mississippi Valley State 6-0 on Friday night.
