Texas Tech University has reported record enrollment figures for the sixth-straight year as more than 35,000 students begin the fall semester.

The university reported 35,134 students enrolled for the fall 2014 semester which represents a growth of 2,023 students from last year. The one-year growth is the third highest in the university’s history.

“We are experiencing unprecedented growth at Texas Tech, which makes this an exciting time in our history,” said Texas Tech President M. Duane Nellis. “Our admissions staff has worked diligently to guarantee we continue to grow and bring in the best and brightest students while maintaining a standard of academic excellence among our incoming classes.”

As of the fall of 2005, Tech had approximately 28,000 students enrolled.
