A Texas Tech runner has won yet another event.

Senior cross country runner Kennedy Kithuka remains unbeaten as a Red Raider, after finishing first overall by more than 30 seconds at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater on Saturday.

Kithuka crossed the finish line with a time of 23:55.27 in the men’s 8,000-meter race at the OSU Cross Country course.

He was one of two Red Raiders to finish in the top-10, as sophomore Tech runner Marcos Vallejo came in 10th with a season-best time of 25:00.77.

The Red Raiders finished fourth in the team standings with 114 points. The Lady Raiders finished fifth, led by a top-10 finish from junior Sharlene Nickle.

Head coach Jon Murray said “Kennedy did a great job leading the men’s team and Marcos had a great personal-best performance. The women’s team continues to show great progress from last year. I was proud of our top three ladies and their performances.”

Texas Tech will return to action at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, October 5th.
