Texas Tech rodeo team members are hoping for a repeat of last year’s results.

Team members are on their way to compete in the 65th annual College National Finals Rodeo, which will run from June 9th through the 15th in Casper, Wyoming.

About 55 teams across the nation out of about 200 institutions that have college rodeo teams will be in attendance, according to Chris Guay, Tech’s rodeo coach.

The team made school history last summer, winning its first national championship at the College National Finals Rodeo.

This will be Guay’s last team to take to the finals, as he is retiring after the event. Guay has coached for 20 years.

“It would be a fun way to end my career seeing the guys and girls doing well.”

Tech’s men’s rodeo team won the university’s first national championship in 1955.
