A Texas Tech football player has been added to a preseason watch list for a national award.

Red Raider senior quarterback Seth Doege has been added to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List.

The Maxwell Award is given each year to the nation’s outstanding college football player.

The San Angelo native is one of 65 student-athletes across the nation that is on the watch list for this particular award, which has been in existence since 1937, and named for sportswriter Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell.

Doege was the NCAA passing leader in 2011, and Tech believes that this year’s group of football players will help give the school their most potent offense in the Tommy Tuberville era.

11 football players from the Big 12 are on the list, including Doege.
