Texas Tech’s Physical Plant has received a high honor.

The Physical Plant has received the APPA Award for Excellence, which is the organization’s highest honor.

The APPA, which is formerly known as the Association of Physical Plant Administrators, gives the award to provide educational institutions the opportunity for national and international recognition for their achievements in facilities management.

According to a press release from Texas Tech, universities eligible to receive the award demonstrate the ability to look at the organization as a whole, focus on what is important to the university, and concentrate on improving overall performance.

“What this award says to the Big 12 and all other universities is that we are doing things right here at Texas Tech,” said Hugh Cronin, assistant vice president for operations. “We are stewards of the environment and we put our customers first.”

APPA is the largest international association of educational institutions for their facilities and physical plant departments. The organization has more than 7,000 active educational facilities.
