The Texas Tech men’s golf team has earned an all-academic honor.

The team was honored this week as one of the 2013 All-Academic teams chosen by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

In order to be eligible for GCAA All-Academic team honors, a university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list and have a combined GPA or 3.0 or better.

“It’s a tremendous honor for our guys because it shows how hard they work in the classroom,” said Tech head coach Greg Sands. “Being a student-athlete involves a lot of dedication to your team and your studies and this helps validate all that hard work.”

Tech golfers have received several honors this season for academic success, with Finley Ewing IV, Henry Todd, and Nathan Weant earning Academic All-Big 12 First Team Honors. Matias Domingues and Clement Sordet were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.

Ewing has also been honored as the Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year for men’s golf and was recently named a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for Division I.
