On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Stephanie Rhodes, spirit coordinator at Texas Tech University, talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the Capital One Mascot Challenge.

The 2013 Capital One Mascot Challenge is now in its 3rd week of competition, with dozens of college mascots competing for a $20,000 prize for their respective school's mascot program. Texas Tech's mascot Raider Red is the reigning champion, having won the competition last year. Rhodes said that now Raider Red needs everyone's help to retain that title. Fans can vote for their favorite mascot by going to Capital One's website and casting their ballot online.

This year, there are new ways to score bonus points for your mascot of choice with weekly challenges. Rhodes explained that fans can post videos, pictures or social media messages relating to the challenge of the week to score an extra 25 or 100 points for their mascot of choice. She added there is a new challenge every week, and fans have until midnight Sunday to submit their entries for the weekly challenges.
