A Texas Tech professor was named dean of the University of Cincinnati College of Law this week and will assume her new duties in July.

Jennifer Bard serves the Texas Tech University System extensively. According to the university, she directs the J.D./M.D. program and the health law concentration for the Texas Tech School of Law, serves as special assistant to the Texas Tech University System Provost for academic engagement, is a professor for the Health Sciences Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and is also an adjunct professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.

Along with serving as Dean of the College of Law, Bard will hold another faculty appointment in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

“Cincinnati is a vibrant and exciting city, and its university and law school are well known for their history of excellence and innovation. As excited as I am about becoming a Bearcat, I will always be a Red Raider,” said Bard. “I am very grateful to the Texas Tech community that welcomed me 12 years ago and has supported me in my personal and professional growth throughout these years. In particular, I am honored to have been part of the legal education of so many wonderful students.”

Before coming to Texas Tech, Bard served on the faculty of the University of Houston and the University of Texas School of Medicine, among others. She studied at the University of Oxford and Wellesly College and received a law degree from Yale, reported Tech.

Texas Tech University School of Law Dean Darby Dickerson said Bard has been a tremendous asset to the school.

“She has positively impacted the lives and careers of hundreds of our students. She will be missed, but we wish her all the best in her new venture.”
