Texas Tech has a full schedule of events for next weekend’s homecoming festivities.

The “Texas: Don’t Wreck with Tech” celebration will feature a weeklong celebration of spirit beginning on Monday, October 8th.

The week will begin with Homecoming Kickoff at the Student Union North Plaza at noon on Monday, and a line dance flash mob will take place immediately following the kickoff.

On Tuesday, Tech will hold Cactus Creations from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Student Union West Basement, where those can choose a planter and learn how to care for a cactus. They will also hold a scavenger hunt from 4 to 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, students can learn to make their own custom leather bracelets for free in the Student Union North Plaza from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The S.O. Sing will be held at the United Spirit Arena at 8 p.m., where student organizations will battle it out on the dance floor.

Thursday features Tamale Fest at Urbanovsky Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the Techsan Memorial will be held at Memorial Circle at 5:30 p.m. Texas Tech students, alumni, faculty, and staff who have passed away in the last year will be honored.

Friday’s activities include the Rowdy Raider Rally in the Student Union North Plaza at noon, where you can meet the top 10 homecoming king and queen candidates and receive a free t-shirt. The Homecoming March, Pep Rally, and Bonfire will begin at 18th and Boston at 8:30 p.m., and will end with the pep rally and bonfire at Urbanovsky Park.

Saturday’s Homecoming Parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Texas Tech Broadway Entrance. Raidergate will begin at the R-1 Parking Lot at 10:30 a.m., and the Texas Tech football team will face off against new conference rival West Virginia at 2:30 p.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium.
