A Texas Tech football senior safety has been named as one of the recipients of a national award.

Cody Davis has been named as one of 15 to receive the 2012 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Awards.

The 15 are also finalists for the 2012 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the best scholar athlete in the nation.

The finalists will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, and the winner of the Campbell Trophy will be announced at the 55th Annual National Football Foundation Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on December 4th.

Davis received his degree in Management Information Systems with a 3.7 GPA. He is currently working on a master’s degree in MIS, and has a 4.0 GPA.

“Cody is a model student-athlete and a tremendous young man that has his priorities in order and big goals for his future,” said Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville.

He also currently leads the Texas Tech defense with 56 tackles and three interceptions.
