For the second time in two days, Texas Tech Athletics has announced a schedule change for Texas Tech Football.

Texas Tech's 2013 home opener against TCU has been moved to Thursday, September 12. The game will be nationally televised on an ESPN or FOX Sports Network (possibly the new FOX Sports 1).

“We are excited to have our 2013 Big 12 season kickoff in front of a national television audience,” Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics said.  “The Big 12 conference television agreement requires that our league provide four Thursday night games and we look forward to this opportunity to showcase our great university and city to the entire nation."

Texas Tech and TCU were originally scheduled to play on Saturday, September 14.  The last appearance for Red Raider Football on a Thursday night came in 1994 when Tech lost 42-16 to then #1 ranked Nebraska at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech Football now has three games scheduled for national television broadcasts. Those games are the August 30th season opener at SMU, the September 12th game vs. TCU and the Thanksgiving night game on November 28 at Texas.
