A Texas Tech senior distance runner has been named to a prestigious watch list.

Kennedy Kithuka has been named to the 2013 Men’s Bowerman Post-Indoor Watch List.

The announcement comes from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Kithuka won the 2013 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meter championship last weekend, and is now the most decorated men’s distance runner in school history.

He also finished ninth in the men’s 3,000-meter run at the national meet, and has managed to win six of seven races this season, while breaking three individual school records and the men’s distance medley school record.

Kithuka went undefeated during the 2012 cross country seasons on his way to winning both the Big 12 Cross Country title and the NCAA Cross Country title.

The Bowerman is awarded annually to the top collegiate athlete in both men’s and women’s track and field, and Kithuka is one of two Big 12 athletes on the post-indoor list.
