Fall practice has begun for one Texas Tech sport.

The Tech women's soccer team began fall practice Wednesday morning at the John Walker Soccer Complex to prepare for their 2012 season.

The Red Raiders went 4-0-1 without allowing a single goal, and shut out LSU, New Mexico, and TCU.

Tech tied for its highest Big 12 finish in program history finishing fourth, and set a new standard for attendance at the John Walker Soccer Complex, averaging 1,332 fans attending 11 home matches.

The team will play their season opener against Idaho on August 17th, and will play one preseason match against Utah in an exhibition in Denver on August 11th.

“The preseason is a crucial time for our team,” said head coach Tom Stone. “Last year was a great year for us, but this year can be even better. We have a team of upperclassmen that can lead, and I feel like our difference is leadership with seniors and veterans.”

The Red Raiders will also be featured in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America “College Game of the Week” on October 26th, when Tech hosts Oklahoma State.

Their 2012 schedule is available here.
