Texas Tech Sophomore Basketball player Jaron Nash is transferring from Texas Tech for personal reasons, as announced by head coach Billy Gillispie Friday.

Gillispie said of Nash’s transfer “We hate to lose Jaron. He has been a valued team member and a part of our Texas Tech family. He has some extenuating family circumstances and he needs to get closer to home. We appreciate his efforts here and thoroughly support his decision.”

Nash has played in 27 of 31 Tech games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per game. “My family and I came to a difficult decision that will lead to me transferring from Texas Tech University” said Nash. “It was tough because the Texas Tech family has been great to me. But I want and need to get closer to home to be around my dad as he fights through his medical condition.”
