Texas Tech has signed a new basketball player.

DeShon Minnis has signed a scholarship to play basketball, according to Red Raider basketball coach Billy Gillispie.

The 6 foot 3 inch tall, 200-pound incoming freshman played two seasons at Atlantic Christian School in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

Minnis averaged 18.5 points, 6 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game in 2010-2011.

Gillispie discussed Minnis, saying “He is a great young man, who we think will get along great with our other players and gives us a great chance for success.”

West Virginia, St. John’s, UCF, Marshall, Providence, and Penn State also attempted to recruit Minnis.
