A Texas Tech baseball player has received conference honors.

Red Raider sophomore first baseman Eric Gutierrez has been named as the Big 12 Player of the Week, following a 4-0 record last week.

Gutierrez is the first Tech baseball player to earn the honor since 2011, when three Red Raiders were recognized.

His selection marks the 26th time a Red Raider has been named player of the week and just the fifth selection over the last five years.

Gutierrez led Tech last week, which included its first Big 12 series sweep since 2011. He batted .455 in a three-game series sweep against Kansas State.

Tech Baseball will be back in action at home on Tuesday, April 15th, hosting Dallas Baptist for a midweek contest at 2 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
