Newly hired Texas Tech Baseball coach Tim Tadlock has made his first hire as he announced the hiring of J Bob Thomas. Thomas will work with catchers and hitters for the Red Raider Baseball program.

Thomas comes from Howard College where he spent seven seasons as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach. Howard College led the junior college ranks in hitting three of the past four seasons.

Thomas, 29, had overwhelming success during his time at Howard College. His teams averaged 49 wins during his tenure on the coaching staff. That includes the 2009 season where Howard finished the season at 63-1.

In a press release, released by Texas Tech, Coach Tadlock said, “J-Bob has worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity. We are very excited to add him to our coaching staff.”

Texas Tech Baseball finished the season in last place of the Big 12 Conference in spite of having a school record nine players drafted in by Major League Baseball teams.
