Texas Tech baseball dropped their conference opener against Baylor Friday night.

The Bears beat the Red Raiders 9-4 at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.

Tech originally took an early 2-1 lead following a home run from Barrett Barnes in the 4th inning. Sophomore pitcher Duke von Schamann pitched five innings, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits with a career-high four walks. The right-handed pitcher had two strike outs.

Tech’s record decreases to 12-6 overall, and Baylor improves to 12-7 on the season.

Tech will play Baylor again at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, and will wrap up the series on Sunday with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. in Waco.
