Texas Tech’s baseball coach has added the final member to his staff for the upcoming season.

Red Raider head baseball coach Tim Tadlock has added Russell Raley as volunteer assistant coach, marking his first complete coaching staff at Texas Tech.

28-year-old Raley will serve as the Red Raiders hitting coach and first base coach, while also working with the team’s infielders and outfielders, according to a press release.

Tadlock and Raley worked together at Oklahoma, where Raley was a three-time All-Big 12 infielder and volunteer assistant coach.

“Russell is one of the best young coaches on the field that I have been around,” said Tadlock. “He brings an understanding of how to help young hitters grow and make adjustments in the course of a game or an at-bat.”

Raley had a two-year professional playing career in the New York Yankees organization before joining the Oklahoma coaching staff.
