Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock has announced the 2016 baseball schedule, highlighted by 27 home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

The schedule is full of challenging non-conference games, with 13 games against opponents who advanced to the NCAA regional in 2015. This includes a pair of home series against San Diego State and 2015 CWS participant Cal State Fullerton.

"We welcome the challenge of our 2016 schedule," said Tadlock, who enters his fourth season leading his alma mater. "Top to bottom we play in one of the best leagues in the country and have tried to go out and schedule quality opponents to put our team in a position to play the game at the highest level possible each day."

An awesome note for the schedule is that Texas Tech will play in both Major League ballparks in the state of Texas as the Red Raiders will take part in the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park on Feb. 26-28 before facing UT Arlington on March 15 at Globe Life Park, the home of the Texas Rangers.

Big 12 play opens March 18 at Baylor, marking the seventh-straight year Texas Tech has begun conference play on the road. Texas Tech hosts Oklahoma on March 24-26 to open its Big 12 home slate.

The Red Raiders will play three of their first five conference series at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park as Kansas State travels to Lubbock the following weekend (April 1-3) while Texas arrives two weeks later (April 22-24).

The top eight teams in the conference standings will advance to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on May 25-29. The five-day tournament will be held at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City for the 17th time in conference history.
