Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos traveled to Mexico City on Monday to speak about bilateral collaboration on behalf of the Lone Star State, reported Governor Greg Abbott’s office.

Cascos is visiting with Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena, Mexico’s secretary of foreign affairs, and Anthony Wayne, U.S. ambassador to Mexico. A delegation of state representatives will also meet with Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Industry, as well as visit Mexico’s Texas Exes and Texas A&M Alumni.

“An open and effective relationship between Mexico and Texas is vital for our state’s future, as well as for the future of the United States,” said Abbott in a press release.

The governor’s office reported this is Cascos first international trip as secretary of state.
