Texas Comptroller Susan Combs is touting the state’s transparency rating.

The State of Texas has been ranked No. 1 for government spending transparency by the U.S. Public Interest Research Group’s annual report.

The State has a website dedicated to government transparency operated by the Texas Comptroller’s Office at www.texastransparency.org.

“From the time I took office we have worked to expand our transparency efforts to provide taxpayers online access to multiple levels of state spending and financial information,” said Combs. “Taxpayers have the right to know how their money is spent and transparency ensures government is held accountable to the people it serves.”

The website offers comprehensive financial information, including a historical check-level register detail available for download.

Seven states, including Texas, received an “A” grade from the group, including Kentucky, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, West Virginia, and Arizona.
