Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz Win Texas Primary

Senator Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton walked away winners for their respective parties at the Texas primary on Super Tuesday, March 1.

According to early ABC News projections, Clinton earned 138 delegates (out of 251) with 68 percent of the total democratic vote. Opponent Bernie Sanders saw 31 percent of the vote and 42 delegates.

On the Republican side of the Texas primary, Senator Cruz carried his home state with 40 percent of the total votes. Runner-up Donald Trump saw 28 percent of the vote. Remaining GOP nominees Marco Rubio, John Kasich, Ben Carson and Jeb Bush all each received under 20 percent each, with the last three each receiving under 5 percent of the vote.

Early voting in Texas saw a big increase, growing from 565,538 people in 2012 to 1.1 million in 2016, ABC News reports.
