Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor of Texas, joined The Chad Hasty Show broadcasting from the Texas State Capitol office of Representative John Frullo on Thursday to discuss issues and progress in the 85th Texas Legislature, now underway in Austin.

Patrick and Hasty discussed the priority items in the session, sanctuary cities, the Texas "bathroom bill", and much more.

Replying to Hasty's question about how the session is progressing so far, Patrick replied,

Last year everyone said Chad, that we had the best conservative Republican session in history in the Texas Senate, and I think the legislature had a terrific session, the entire session. This session it's even better and stronger.

Patrick described legislation and priorities being set by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, then said about movement on those priorities, "No one can work faster and harder, and in a more conservative manner than the Texas Senate."

Patrick and Hasty also talked about the ongoing dialog between Patrick and the Speaker of the Texas House, Joe Straus. Patrick said,

The people of Texas elected me to do this job, and they elected me to reduce their property taxes, to secure the border, to not have boys and girls not showering together in the tenth grade, to pass school choice, to pass to pass strong law enforcement in pro-life issues. That's what I've always done and that's what I always will do. Because that's what we're supposed to do Chad, when we run for office. You make a campaign, you say what you're going to do, you do what you said you're going to do, because that's what you're supposed to do.
