A southeast Texas volunteer firefighter lost an arm while helping at the scene of a tanker truck crash Thanksgiving day.

Kimberly Huckabee, a volunteer firefighter from Pinewood, had to have her arm amputated after she was struck by a semi truck while fighting a fire caused by the tanker accident. There were several accidents after the initial tanker crashed.

Authorities say the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the tanker to run off the road. It burst into flames, spilling about 6,700 gallons of crude oil across the highway. The oil was allowed to burn off. Huckabee is hospitalized in stable condition
