Two traffic stops on IH-40 over the weekend yielded a combined 33 pounds of methamphetamine valued at around $2.9 million.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the two traffic stops occurred Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.

The Saturday night traffic stop on IH-40 near Conway in Carson County yielded over 18 pounds of methamphetamine. A Texas DPS trooper pulled over a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Angela M. Winn (29) of Indianapolis and discovered six bundles of meth inside the vehicle. The total value of the drugs is estimated at over $1.6 million.

Winn was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Indianapolis.

The following night, a Texas DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Ford Focus traveling eastbound on IH-40 near Amarillo in Potter County. During the traffic stop, the DPS trooper discovered six bundles of methamphetamine stored inside a spare tire.

The occupants were identified as Maria Fonseca (44), Laura Vea (26) and Mayra Duran (24), all of San Bernardino, California.

The three occupants were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Potter County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from San Bernardino, Calif., to Amarillo, Texas.
