The Texas Department of Transportation has announced intentions to reopen the US 87 bridge at Woodrow road to one lane of traffic in each direction this weekend.

The opening will take place pending weather on either August 23 or 22.

“We’re working on opening the bridge to traffic sometime this weekend,” said TxDOT Lubbock Area engineer Will Barnett. “Safety is our priority, so we want to make sure our concrete barriers are properly set and the roadway is striped before opening at least one bridge lane in each direction.”

TxDOT has issued a reminder to motorists stating the area is still an active work zone and asks motorists to drive with safety throughout the remainder of the work.
