The Texas Department of Transportation will begin road construction in Lubbock for one of its projects next week.

The $1 million dollar project that will make roadway improvements to a segment of West 19th Street is set to begin Monday, April 14 and end mid-May 2014.

Project engineer, Edward Sewell, said "The project will make intersection and turn-lane improvements and is expected to enhance the overall safety of the roadway."

Both east and westbound traffic lanes will see multiple lanes reduced and shifted throughout the project. Motorists are advised to drive with caution for their own safety and the safety of the workers.
