Lubbock-area business owners and managers are invited to the Texas Business Conference on June 28th at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center, located at 2322 Mac Davis Lane. The conference will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Seminar topics include Texas employment law and basics of hiring; business retention and expansion; employee policy handbooks; handling unemployment claims; independent contractors; and federal and Texas wage and hour laws.

Certified public accountants can earn six hours of continuing education credit and other conference participants may qualify for general professional credits.

“It is incumbent upon anyone dealing with HR issues to attend for continuing education to stay current on the latest precedence being set by the TWC, as those laws are constantly being changed and updated,” said Martin Aguirre, Workforce Solutions South Plains CEO.

Attendees will receive the latest edition of Especially for Texas Employers and the accompanying CD, which addresses the basic legal issues regarding hiring, post-employment, and work-separation policies.

The cost to attend the conference is $85 per person and is nonrefundable.
