Texas Attorney General’s Office Files to Seize the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado

The Texas Attorney General’s Office is seeking to seize the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado. The 1,600 acre ranch housed the FLDS compound led by Warren Jeffs.

Jeffs, and a number of his followers, were convicted of sexually assaulting minors under auspices that they were married to the minors.  A 91-page affidavit was filed in the 51^st State District Court to begin the seizure.

Under state law, property can be seized that was used to commit or facilitate criminal conduct. Jeffs and other FLDS members will be given an opportunity in a future court proceeding to challenge the seizure.
