TxDOT celebrates the 10th anniversary of a popular public safety program.

The Click It or Ticket program turns ten, and researchers estimate that seat belts have saved over 2,800 lives in Texas over the last decade.

TxDOT says that when they began the campaign, only 76.1 percent of the state’s population was buckling up, and currently, nearly 94 percent of drivers and front-seat passengers are wearing their safety belts.

DPS troopers, as well as police officers and sheriff’s deputies will out in force to ticket drivers and passengers who are not buckled up between May 23rd and June 5th.
