Teens Ravage Home of World War II Veteran

Two juveniles are in custody in Houston for vandalizing the home of a World War II veteran.
Elbert Wood, the 93-year-old veteran, who was awarded a purple heart when he sustained shrapnel in his leg during the war, was at a doctor’s appointment Monday.
While the man was out two boys, aged 14 and 16, broke into his home, stole several items and vandalized the interior of the home with spray paint. The man’s Purple Heart was not damaged.
Wood returned to his home, where he lives alone due to the recent death of his wife, found the mess and alerted authorities.
Police discovered the two teens with paint and allegedly stolen items after searching the neighborhood.
The police department has turned the teen over to juvenile authorities.
