Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate Ted Cruz is fresh off a victory in the Texas Primary run off defeating Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst Tuesday night.

His opponent in the General Election this fall is Democrat Paul Saddler who defeated Grady Yarbrough  in the Democrat Senate run off the same night.

Saddler said,  "I challenge my opponent Ted Cruz to a debate on the issues that affect Texans. I will meet him any time, any place, anywhere", according to the Houston Chronicle.

Cruz joined Chad Hasty on Lubbock's First News on Thursday and addressed the challenge from Saddler.

Cruz said, "Oh, sure. There will be certainly be debates. I think that is the responsibility of any candidate to debate and help present that choice. And I look forward to highlight the choice facing Texas and facing this country of what direction to go."

Cruz and Saddler face off in the General Election November 6th.
