Tech Women’s Tennis Coach Petty Named Big 12 Coach of the Year
Texas Tech’s women’s tennis coach has been named as the conference’s coach of the year.
Todd Petty has been named as the Big 12 Coach of the Year today, following a vote of the conference coaches.
Petty led the Lady Raider tennis team to its second-highest win total in program history in his third season as coach.
This is the first time a Texas Tech women’s tennis coach has been named conference coach of the year.

PETTY NAMED BIG 12 COACH OF THE YEAR
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech’s Todd Petty, who led the Lady Raider tennis team to its second-highest win total in program history, was named Big 12 Coach of the Year today in a vote by the conference coaches.
Petty, in his third season, led Tech to an 18-8 overall record and 7-4 in the Big 12. The seven conference victories are tied for the most wins in school history. The team finished ranked No. 48 which is also a program best. It is the first time a Texas Tech women’s tennis coach has been named conference coach of the year.
“I feel honored to be able to coach in the Big 12 and against some of the best coaches in the country, who are as deserving of this award,” head coach Todd Petty said. “This award really goes to my players and staff including Katie Munger and Todd Chapman. The award is more of a reflection on their hard work and one I share with them.”
The Lady Raiders tennis team also picked up some individual accolades. Sophomore Elizabeth Ullathrone was named All-Big 12 for singles for the first time in her career. Ullathorne finished her season with a 16-16 record and 5-6 in conference play all at the No. 1 position.
Kelsy Garland and Samantha Adams picked up All-Big 12 doublse honors after a 21-12 overall record and 7-4 in Big 12 play. It is Garland’s second honor of her career and Adams’ first. The duo tied for the most wins in conference at the No. 1 position.
“I am extremely happy for Elizabeth, Samantha and Kelsy earning All-Big 12 honors,” Petty said. “Those three are definitely deserving of the honor and I couldn’t be more proud.”
