Do You Talk About Politics at Work? – Survey of the Day

Politics is definitely in the air, especially since 2012 is an election year. But a recent survey by Harris Interactive on behalf of Careerbuilder.com suggests most folks still shy away from talking about Democrats and Republicans in their workplace.
According to the poll of 7,000 full-time workers, 36 percent currently talk politics at the office, with an additional seven percent saying that they expect it will come up as the election grows closer. Men (44 percent) are more likely to talk politics on the job than women (28 percent.)
Among those that do discuss politics with co-workers, 23 percent say at least one of these conversations has become heated. Additionally, 10 percent report these political discussions have changed their opinion of a co-worker, with most saying it made them think more negatively of them.
