Ysidro Gutierrez is set to kick-off his campaign for Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 3 in front of the Lubbock County Courthouse at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.
Gonzales died this past Tuesday in Lubbock. He ran unsuccessfully for the Lubbock City Council in 2008 & worked off-and-on in the radio industry since he was 17.

Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez says that a recall petition organizer may plan to find challengers for the elected position held by the councilman's wife if he does not resign.
The councilperson is given five days after the petition is verified, and if the officeholder does not resign, the City will order a recall election. Hernandez has stated that he will not resign.
The petition was submitted to Lubbock City Secretary Becky Garza’s office with around 580 signatures, and the City will begin the verification process on Tuesday, May 28th.
