Xcel says the increase will help cover the cost of critical investments in new power lines, substations, and generating facilities to meet growing regional demand.
Xcel was honored by the Edison Electric Institute with the association’s Emergency Assistance Award for their outstanding effort in Ohio last summer and in the Northeast for Hurricane Sandy.
The arts and economic sustainability focus areas are two of four annual grant cycles in which area nonprofits can participate. Other cycles are education and environment.
