“As demonstrated by the informational session held last Thursday in Plainview for the former workers, there is still a great demand for job training and employment assistance for the displaced workers,” said Workforce Solutions South Plains CEO Martin Aguirre.
Seminar topics include Texas employment law and basics of hiring; business retention and expansion; employee policy handbooks; handling unemployment claims; independent contractors; and federal and Texas wage and hour laws.
The grant and center will provide training for 240 workers from at least 20 small area businesses, and provide entrepreneurial training and mentoring to at least 38 new business seekers.
