Wind Researchers with Texas Tech University will receive $1.4 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a new radar prototype intended to provide more accurate measurements of flow conditions within wind farms.
Texas Tech has announced the receipt of a $300,000 Federal Grant.
The Economic Development Administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce, awarded the grant to Texas Tech University to help build on the South Plains region’s capability in wind and other renewable energy sources that increase innovation and entrepreneurship through technology commercialization
The entities formed a partnership last April to create the new wind research facility. Sandia will add two V27 research turbines at the site, and Vestas will add its own V27 turbine.
