HOUSTON (AP) — New thunderstorms were forecast for parts of Texas Saturday, a day after wide areas of the state were pounded with high winds and heavy rains, knocking down trees and utility poles and causing some minor property damage.
The second round of this week's winter weather hit Lubbock and the South Plains Friday (Jan. 2) afternoon. Heavy freezing rainfall totals were recorded east of Lubbock, including 1 inch in Spur and 0.9 of an inch in Guthrie.
My husband and I were running our errands Saturday, in light of the upcoming cold front and we were in good company. The traffic was Black Friday-heavy and the lines at local retailers and grocers was ridiculous.
