An Abilene man was sentenced to six years in federal prison for possession of child pornography on Friday, November 14.

A California woman, arrested near Abilene on Christmas Day in 2013, faces up to twenty years in federal prison for a felony drug offense after pleading guilty in federal court in Lubbock.

According to the Department of Justice, John Conte Smith, 35, of Balch-Springs, Texas; Dallas-area residents, Crystal Nicole Burks, 29; Keith Deon Noel, 26; and Lee Santrell Boston, 35; each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute hydrocodone and alprazolam.

One man appeared in federal court in Lubbock to plead guilty to a federal child obscenity offense and three defendants convicted in separate, unrelated child pornography cases were sentenced, announced U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldana of the Northern District of Texas.

Two men have pleaded guilty to child pornography charges before District Judge Sam Cummings of the Northern District of Texas in unrelated cases.
