Texas Tech’s Libraries Communications and Marketing department has received a prestigious award.
The department has been awarded the 2013 John Cotton Dana Award, the most prestigious award of the American Library Association.

The event, sponsored by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, will feature representatives from Texas Tech, including Chancellor Kent Hance, Tech Interim President Lawrence Schovanec, and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center President Tedd Mitchell, M.D.
Tech is one of two Big 12 schools with both men’s and women’s track and field teams ranked in the top 20 entering the Big 12 Championships.
That particular success jumped White to No. 5 in the world for the 2013 season, the top of the Big 12, and also broke a 27-year-old facility record.
Tech is one of about 10 percent of universities that has been granted the right to shelter a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, and only about 10 percent of graduates in the liberal arts and sciences at the university are selected for lifetime membership.
Former NFL lineman and champion wrestler Bill Goldberg is the tour’s spokesman, and will be available to answer questions about world hunger and sustainable food production.
Students, faculty, and staff will help to beautify the campus and highlight student organizations.
Texas Tech will host its final home meet of the 2013 outdoor season with the Red Raider Open. The meet will be held on Thursday, April 25th at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex.
Saturday morning’s workshop will feature Dr. Benjamin Powell, the director of Texas Tech University’s Free Market Institute.
