Days in advance of the approaching storm system, local weather professionals warned of a windy Wednesday, and that's exactly what happened on April 10, 2019.
At one point after Wednesday's wind storm, over 136,000 Xcel Energy customers across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico lost power. According to Xcel, it was a record-setting number for any outage event on the regional electrical system.
Starting at 10am on Wednesday, sustained winds will be out of the west at 40 mph, with peak gusts between 60 to 75 mph depending on the region. Blowing dust will also impact driving across West Texas
