Lubbock Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing a Texas Tech student’s cell phone, who then hit the victim with his car and drug him for a short distance.
Officer Cook and his K-9 Robbie found 19-year-old Thomas Garcia hiding in a tree in the 5900 block of 15th Street. The second suspect was held at gunpoint in the backyard of nearby homeowners.
The work is to allow for crews to complete drainage work in the area.
The suspects were seen in surveillance video stealing multiple bags of clothing from JCPenney on July 25th, 2013 around 2:30 p.m. The trio reportedly took between $400 to $500 worth of clothing.
The suspect was seen fleeing towards the Waterside Village Apartments after reportedly committing a robbery at Kmart, located at 6501 University Avenue on Sunday, August 18th at around 8:44 a.m.
The K-9 unit reportedly found 120 grams of methamphetamine and more than $9,000 cash inside the vehicle.
On Saturday, August 17th, the organization “Wives Behind the Badge” will hold a family day to allow kids and families to meet and interact with local law enforcement.
The vehicle was spotted by a LPD Officer on Wednesday evening.
Lubbock Police, in partnership with Lubbock Christian University, will be conducting SWAT and negotiator active shooter training on the LCU campus.
On Friday, July 19th, Lubbock Police received a call from a teenage girl from Amarillo needing help at the McDonald’s location at 50th and Quaker around 9:30 p.m.
