A meeting and workshop of the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees will be held tomorrow, October 11th at 7am.
All participants received a certificate and a t-shirt, and the Lubbock ISD Foundation for Excellence provided more than $5,500 in promotional materials and prizes for the event.
Lubbock ISD’s four high school bands will perform their UIL marching shows, and their feeder middle school bands will perform a song with them. The performance culminates with the traditional massed-band finale.
The third-annual “Expectation Graduation Community Walk” will be held on Saturday, September 15th.
STAT members across Texas made nominations for the award based upon the nominee’s creativity in the classroom, classroom management, and proper safety procedures.
School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon performance and leadership.
Students will receive a hot meal each afternoon, and activities will include homework assistance, computer classes, games, and arts and crafts.
At the same meeting, the board authorized Superintendent Karen Garza to issue bonds up to $65 million, as part of cash flow for projects approved in the 2010 bond that are currently in progress.
The Texas Education Agency says that 56 percent of all schools in the state failed to meet the AYP standards. Overall, Lubbock ISD, Frenship ISD, and Lubbock-Cooper ISD failed to meet the standards.
